FS#654: UEFI boot mode request Erik Wed, 15 Mar 2017 20:51:34 +0000 A self signed key is fine as 90% of machines will allow this.

Notes: self signed key is the requirement for the "Secure Boot" part]]>

FS#653: Make wireless work (like Bodhi Linux' implementation) andy p Wed, 01 Mar 2017 17:28:55 +0000
I notice that Bodhi can use the same hardware and connect to wifi with no problem.

They implement GNOME keyring-GNOME network manager GNOME-pcs11 econnman bundle that makes this wireless solution work out-of-the-box. I would like to install them on my elive but using synaptic a lot of the installed software would have to be removed first.

I would make a donation to promote Elive 3 but I have been using a wired connection with elive because internet manager complains about something missing and it is less than ideal to use if I have to use a wired ethernet cable all the time, with my laptop.]]>

FS#652: Iceweasel or Firefox losts sync, update-grub2 doesn't find other linux systems Michal Kitta Wed, 24 Aug 2016 08:42:08 +0000 Update-grub2 and grub-install doesn't find other debians on my hard disk. This bug was allready in last version 2.6.10.]]> http://bugs.elivecd.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=652 http://bugs.elivecd.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=652 FS#651: Beta 2.6.14: When upgrading in installer LABEL= is NOT recognized in /etc/fstab Lawrence De Coste Sat, 27 Feb 2016 16:43:13 +0000
If the prior version installed on the hard drive uses the LABEL= partition naming convention in /etc/fstab, both the / and /home partitions should be changed to UUID= or if one wants to risk it /dev/sdc or sda or whatever # blkid from the live boot calls it.

Since i am not too sure about the handling of multiple users on /home I am now going to clone a home partition to test the install.]]>

FS#650: In the live version, the script to update repos needs an update. andy purugganan Mon, 16 Nov 2015 20:10:48 +0000 http://bugs.elivecd.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=650 http://bugs.elivecd.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=650 FS#649: Beta 2.6..0 - Destroys all other users on /home Lawrence De Coste Sat, 04 Apr 2015 01:25:30 +0000 When I chose sda8 as /home it during the install I carefully said NOT to format it.
However the install did not pick up the /home directory as planned.

First I couldn't log in via the graphical screen. So I Ctrl-Alt-F1 into
tty1 & logged in then sudo su to edit /etc/fstab.

What had happened was there were no options chosen for sda8. So I
added "defaults" and rebooted.

Then I found that your install had deleted all the other directories on
sda8 leaving only my elive user (larryel)

Please change your install to NOT erase all the other users on the
chosen /home partition. The logic would seem to be that if a user did
NOT want to format the partition s/he would MOST certainly NOT want the
install to erase all the data on the partition either,
