FS#11 - XFE menu's text encoding

The text in menu of XFE is not right encoded (with the french menu). For exemple “Propriété” is “Propri€Â©t€Â©”.

If I created a file or rename it i have the same problem.

thunar replaces xfe by default on elive

Admin

Its not posible to fix the problem since we have the version 1.4 of libfox, it not supports UTF-8, not exist on debian unstable or experimental, and the ubuntu repositories has a oldest verstion of libfox than the ETCH version... Well, i have tried to package it, but after to make this and install on my system, xfe not compile with this version...

What we make now then ? I have emailed the maintainer of libfox on debian asking for the version 1.6

One solution is to delete XFE from Elive and use *only* evidence (it don’t crash more now thanks to Katai)

There is nothing particular stopping libfox1.6 from getting into Debian,
apart from my spare spare time ;) Currently I have to rebuild my system
first, upgrading to Linux 2.6.18-rc1 ate my system partitions :(

It don’t crash but is not very usable now (on the elive 0.5) you can’t mouve a file for exemple (he make a copy). I like have XFE to manage my file...

Perhaps change XFE to another file manager, perhaps http://emelfm2.net/emelFM2 ... juste a sugestion ....

or http://thunar.xfce.org/index.html but is not ready yet.

Ok, i have look thunar and its a perfect candidate, very good options, not big, nice features, and a look vision to the future, you can install it actually on your Elive via apt-get...

I open then a task for feature request... start using thunar normally, make a look to all the posible things, and look if any thing looks bad and write all the things to needs to are customized

I hope it for Elive-0.6 (and their first beta’s)
