FS#145 - sony crw 830e is recognized but doesn't burn CD's

elive uses oldatapi driver. brasero and k3b and xcdroast all recognize the drive but don’t burn CD’s.

XCdroast advizes to use scsi emulation, but that doesn’t seem to work also.

  • I’ve just saw in one of the Debian official mailing list that on certain cd/dvd writers there are some media that couldn’t be written. Just to be sure, could you change the brand of the cds/dvds that you are using and tell us if the problem persist?

Your test will be highly appreciated!

Thanks!

- Felix

I tried until now two brands. Philips CD/RW and Samsung CDR. Both didn’t work. I had succes with burning both CD/RW and CDR with Mepis 6.5. I really like Elive (Mepis too but I prefer Elive)!
best regards
Anton

Hello Anton!

Please could you send to US the kernel and driver information on Mepis?. If it works on Mepis we could make it works on Elive, because it seems that it’s a kernel matter.

  1. Boot your Mepis
  2. Write this commands “uname -a” and “lsmod”
  3. Paste the output here
  4. I will assign the task to the main Elive developer, and we try to solve that ASAP

Thanks for your time and your bug report!

Best regards,

- Felix

Admin

Does this problem still on a recent version of Elive ?

The problem occured with Elive GEM. Disabling ACPI and using APM solved all the problems. I learned that the Bios of mij IBM Thinkpad was of 1999 and that there is a posibility of problems using ACPI.

Admin

It is fixed on a recent version (development) of Elive ?
