FS#212 - Thunar doesn't correctly umount usb pen and disks
Thunar doesn’t correctly umount any memory device, especially if has more than one partition.
Moreover it leaves empty directories in /media/ once the device has been unplugged

thunar shows uncorrect behaviour again with usb disks that have more than one partition:
trying to umount them is not possible, if i try to umount via thunar it remounts automatically.
That’s not my case, looks like a problem with your usb device ? (it happens with others ?)
i don’t know i am using an usb simple WD passport drive:
one FAT partition 100mb
and one ext3 one 120gb
I have a similar problem (on the ecomorph version). I’m mounting an usb- stick on my phone via usb - it detects and adds automatically. If I do file- operations, it works fine (although the device seems to be disconnected). Eject then appears to work, and the files are saved. If I mount the phone, and then mount an external usb drive (also a WD passport), I can read and transfer files back and forth - but unmounting either drive cause problems. If I transfer files to the phone’s memory stick, they are not saved, and an “eject” fails.
..sorry, not very good with dmesg and so on. I can replicate it and post logs if anyone can help me figure out what I should type in :)
i reformatted my passport with JFS, only one partition.
It has some problems still in umounting, when i umount, it automagically remount.
and if i plug out then plug in again it mount RO since JFS is not consistent..
not good.
i should need a ssh to one of these computers to play with the problem and found the cause
what does on a ⇒ 1.9.32 version ?
..tried installing the 1.9.32 ecomp version, but after the installer launches the fetch module step, it doesn’t continue. The installer won’t restart.
On 1.9.22, the dmesg looks like this on a mount/umount:
If I make changes to the filesystem, thunar gives me an “unknown error” prompt at the umount. But it does save the changes. Except.. sometimes, when copying several files at the same time, then the copy stalls, and the progress- bar goes towards infinity or so. Best guess.. some filenames truncated into similar ones, causing a problem of some kind on the write?
try to update the installer: apt-get update && apt-get install eliveinstaller-4g
btw which relation has a installer problem with the thunar umount ? please create a new ticket if your problem with the installer persists, with better information about what exactly happens
