Try the new bluetooth system

Admin

do you know the name of this packages ?

I am not experienced Linux user - how to find it? On Kanotix is option dev/modem connection setup (serial, USB, infrared, bluetooth). Then after selection last option it start device scan and find my mobile. Then I use the other menu GPRS connection and it asked me the name of my provider or other-init string - then it automatically dial and connect my mobile with the Inet.

hum... i don’t have idea about this bluethoot things... but a video sounds usefull :) try recordmydesktop, and put this video on a server for i can make a look... more exactly, a video of how you use/configure/launch this tool, in other words, a simple example

for look the package name’s, try: dpkg -l | grep -i bluetooth (or any keyword), or other example, ps -A | more when are running (show the name of the processes running), around the last lines...

I will try the video later.

knoppix@3[knoppix]$ dpkg -l | grep -i bluetooth
ii bluez-hcidump 1.23-1 Analyses Bluetooth HCI packets
ii bluez-pin 0.26-1 Bluetooth PIN helper with D-BUS support
ii bluez-utils 2.19-1 Bluetooth tools and daemons
ii btsco 0.3+cvs20051113-1 use a bluetooth headset with Linux
ii kdebluetooth 0.99+1.0beta1-6+b1 KDE Bluetooth Framework
ii libbluetooth1 2.19-1 Library to use the BlueZ Linux Bluetooth stack
knoppix@3[knoppix]$

try apt-cache rdepends libbluetooth2, you have a list of packages to use this lib for bluetooth, try some of this package and write here the ones you think to are interessant for Elive (graphically)

Admin

I don’t have BT then i can’t posible to know what programs are good or not to include on Elive, also if works

Try those Debian packages and see if are useful for Elive:

bluez-passkey-gnome (try it from e16)
btscanner (from a terminal)

Those programs looks cool to include on Elive, but not are available via apt-get, try to make it working and see if are good:

http://gbtcr.chileforge.cl/ http://www.student.lu.se/~cif04usv/wiki/btrcv.html Looks very interessant, and has a debian package too

Hm, I suppose that these programs expected that OS knows the BT device. These programs are oriented on different task with BT /GNOME Bluetooth Control Remoto Proyect/ and /receiving files via bluetooth/. When I type dpkg -l | grep -i bluetooth in Elive: ii bluez firmware 1.2.-1 Firware for Bluetooth devices. If you compare it with Kanotix /see above/ it is poor listing. I think it will be good to put in distro all packages preinstalled and ““something more”” how to manage the connection.

Bluetooth stack utilities
# bluez-libs-3.7.tar.gz
# bluez-utils-3.7.tar.gz
# bluez-hcidump-1.33.tar.gz
# bluez-gnome-0.6.tar.gz

Yes, well, i can put on the repositories “any” package, but the interessant thing is to have a graphical program for the user can be set his bluetooth things easly and managed on Elive, this is what I try to found, but I don’t have any bluetooth thing and also don’t know how to works
