can you try if works with STATIC mode instead of DHCP ?
Yes. I just tried that and got the same reaction from net-connector.
Not sure if this is helpful or not, but I just tried it with 8.10 Ubuntu livecd. I can connect fine to our network using ath9k and mac80211 modules.
Interesting information, ath9k supports it correctly... the hard part to know is how to made “compatible” the ath(5|9)k drivers with the madwifi ones (are the sucessor drivers)
Can you show me the result of this command in your ubuntu system ?: grep -i ath.k /boot/config*
Sorry it took so long to get back to ya.
Good... so ath9k replaces madwifi and ath5k too
The problem now is how to include ath9k driver for the next stable release of Elive, if i want to release it with 2.6.26 and not 2.6.27 (only available since .27)
you have a 2.6.27.7 kernel in the elive repositories right now :), run apt-cache search 2.6.27.7-elive and with apt-get install, install the packages that you want/need (be sure to install the nvidia or ATI ones if you need them)
Unnafortunately im not sure right now if i can include or not this kernel on teh stable version of elive, but for now is not possible so i have switch back to 2.6.26.8 that doesn’t include ath9k
Please try if WEP works with the new 1.9.18 release of Elive, it includes the ath9k driver on 2.6.26 :)
What im not sure if it would load the ath9k driver or the ath_hal driver by default, so please try it and tell me if it “just works”
here in my test, it has used the interface wlan0 instead of ath0, this is good because it means that is using the ath9k driver and not the madwifi one, it is your case too ?
yes, it does work with 1.9.18. Both seem to be loaded by default.
