FS#456 - Shared WEP keys non-functional
This might be considered both a bug and a feature request, depending on your point of wiev.
It is (as of verision 1.9.37, as far as I know also in 1.9.39) impossible to connect to wireless networks protected by WEP encryption using a shared key (as opposed to having an open system).
In the standard connection/network manager application this seems to be due to the fact that there is no oprion to actually set the encryption of a WEP-protected network to “shared” as you don’t get any options besides condifuring the key used (i.e. you can’t select the key index, key number etc).
However, even after switching network management software to something more complete/full-featured (such as Wicd, which I tested) and configuring the connection properly the problem persist, in that it refuses to connect.
