FS#48 - Wireless bcm43xx driver unusable
The driver for bcm43xx(broadcom 4318) is buggy(unusable), the best way is using ndiswrapper and windows*sic* drivers, contact me if you need something!

Can you write more details ? what is exactly not usable ? the driver or the firmware ?
What is the version of kernel (uname -r) you are running on this iso where not works ?
Can you posible to try to make it running for fix it by default on Elive ?
Simply, you can see, making a ping to another hosts, a lot of DUP packets, due to bad firmware (bad connection, bad speed rate.. an from time to time wireless card hangs..)
The easy way is to use drivers windows with ndiswrapper (better perfomance than with other firmwares).
Download the driver :
http://www.xpefiles.com/viewtopic.php?p=856& (simply look for bcmwl5.zip in google)
Install in ndiswrapper :
ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
Blacklist bcm43xx module :
echo “blacklist bcm43xx” » /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
Load at boot ndiswrapper mod :
echo “ndiswrapper” » /etc/modules
ndiswrapper is just a final alternative, but not a solution, is dangerous too
On what version exactly you have seen this problem ?
Do you have tried the 0.5.5 too ? (back to the Revolution kernel, 2.6.15)
I’m in testing :
Linux rand0m 2.6.18.2 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Nov 14 10:48:17 CET 2006 i686 GNU/Linux
