FS#499 - Changing keyborad layout not working 1.9.50

After reading posts from users I tried change all the possibilities, but with no luck..

Section “InputDevice”

Identifier	"Generic Keyboard"
Driver "kbd"
Option "CoreKeyboard"
Option "XkbRules"	"xorg"
Option "XkbModel"	"pc105"
Option "XkbLayout"	"us,cz"

Option "XkbOption" "grp:altshifttoggle"

Does not work even with alt_shift_toggle

But in console setx keyboard to us or cz works..

What about changing the XkbLayout to only "cz" instead of "us,cz", does it work ? tell me so that i can fix it

no, the problem is somewhere in debian.. I did setxkbmap in keyboard shortcuts, the bad is I need two keys. One to switch there one back..

Admin

mmh, wait, let me understand... let's start from what you run in live mode, so, by running elive from live mode, you select your language in the boot options and when you reach the graphical system:

  • Do you have your keymap correctly set ?
  • If you run the keyboard configurator given with Elive, it works good ? (you can simply run keybconf for it)

Let's start from here so that i can know where is the problem and what i need to fix in Elive

conny commented on 22.01.2010 08:03

yes, keybconf OK, setxkbmap OK.
The only problem is switching between them by some kind of setting hotkey.
As I wrote, Xcong didn;t work at all..

Admin

By Xcong you mean the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file ?

And, when you select the language from the boot of the live mode, you have the keyboard directly and correctly set ?

What you mean by "switching them between some kind of setting hotkey" ?

Admin

booting the live mode with the parameter lang=cs (not sure about the name, so i have just used the cheatcode), i have an xorg.conf file with "cz,cs,us", but i dont know if this combination of keyboard is the good one! :) please tell me that

conny commented on 25.01.2010 09:27

The problem is not in the maps, but in switching these maps.. altshifttoggle not working..

Admin

and how you switch them ? i dont know about anything included by default in elive that does that with hotkeys

conny commented on 25.01.2010 17:31

Xorg conf "hotkey" doesn't work so I used the keyboard configurator in elive - englightenment configurator - input - and associated win key + q to command setxkbmap cz and win + w to sexkbmap us.. that's it.. but not with altshifttoggle in keyboard option in xorg..

Admin

oook... now i understand you :), yes, good point (btw, this is explained somewhre in elive ? if yes, needs to be updated because of:

The thing is that i have noticed that sometimes is needed to restart E17 in order to have correctly the keymaps working, can you try this ? Ctrl + Alt + End = reload, do it after to switch the keyboard
