FS#653 - Make wireless work (like Bodhi Linux' implementation)

I have elive installed but it is flawed. I cannot use any of the current tools to connect using my DELL 6440 laptop’s wifi card.

I notice that Bodhi can use the same hardware and connect to wifi with no problem.

They implement GNOME keyring-GNOME network manager GNOME-pcs11 econnman bundle that makes this wireless solution work out-of-the-box. I would like to install them on my elive but using synaptic a lot of the installed software would have to be removed first.

I would make a donation to promote Elive 3 but I have been using a wired connection with elive because internet manager complains about something missing and it is less than ideal to use if I have to use a wired ethernet cable all the time, with my laptop.

fixed in new beta's AFAIK! :)

Other tasks could be resolved when this one is completed e.g. the task entitled 'econnman' and others too. I have searched for other solution and even a technical writer made suggestions related to this annoyance–I was surprised when she wrote that using FOO she "was able to get online on her Elive"
You may have your own ways of getting connected, so this may not bother you as much; personally I think that this is the weakest link in such a wonderful distro. I would encourage my friends to try it out, however I am not a wireless networking guru so I cannot endorse Elive as is. After installing it I was disappointed that internet configurator complained about econnman. When I tried to check econnman settings in Settings/Modules I get a blank window; I will provide a snapshot later. I think it was a ECONNMAN titlebar with an OK button.

It(Connecting wirelessly) needs improvement.

With this in mind, task #617 should be a BUG instead of a feature request. And #513 as well.

I wanted to set up Internet configurator once and for all; after all, I did a complete install of Elive and wiped away Windows forever. I go to Settings Panel>ALL and click on Connection Manager and this is all I get. this is the message

Even without doing anything extra, the recent beta already detects the broadcom-phy b43 wireless chip and now I can use wi-fi out-of-the-box! This beats everything!
