What do you use for ummount it ? thunar ?
Fixed.. But another problem - Thunar 0.8.0 can not umount media - written in another bug report..
launch it from a terminal and see the error messages
Where you have get this version of thunar ? debian etch has 0.4.0 actually
I have no Idea.. I moved from experimental to etch,so maybe 0.8.0 stayed there..

Maybe your directories not are removed because you have modified the sources.list than the default one from Elive, using unnofficial or external packages can made perfectly those kind of problems
The directories are removed by default on my machine and by default on Elive installations, I close then this bug, If you made a new install of Elive and you don’t modify the sources.list and you have the same problem, re-open this report
