After updating my System today, i get this message whenever i started my Scite it says:

Scite has a BUG, do not save your files in UFT-8 codification or use a better editor like vim! :)

you do not need UTF-codification if you do not use accents or other special charts than used on “simple plain English”

AUtmatic Update manager, its a really need for Elive. I would like to see it in the next versions.

Users do not know when they should do Update, especially New users.

I tried to maximaized the Window of Synaptic but it looks that it has a bug, try to fix it.

There is some files that are ziped but are protected with passwords, the concerned programme under Elive can not recognize that automatically, i should first start the Archievmanager manually then put the password in the field to be able to unzip the file, but i know it is possible to make this automatically but just one click, ( Unzip ) then the Programme gives a field this just in case that the File are protected with password to enter.

Hello!

I saw that Elive miss this Programme which is very important to be used in Universities here in Germany, Student can get connected to Internet just by using this Client.It is provided under Debian, but with GUI for KDE and for command line, but the version under Debian Packages is too old, there is many other new versions which work better than the one under Debian.
Please watch this http://www.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/~massar/vpnc/ it will be a very good step to add this client under Elive, and ofcourse with GUI.

I love to see find it in the next stable version

Please try hardly not to remove E16 from the next version of Elive, it is really simple, lite and very attractive to the Newbies. I like to much and really happy to have it so well configured under Elive. Its little buggy than E17.

to update the System apt-get update && apt-get install e16, everything went well, except that Internet work very Slow under E16.I use WLAN .

Can you please add VLC to the ELive library. It is a great Software to watch Online (TV) Streaming in the next Elive version. Such a Programme miss Elive.

I can’t visit some Web pages because they support just IE or Firefox, although ICEWEASEL is the same Firefox, but there sever can not recognized ICEWEASEL as Firefox, and thus can’t visit these webpages.

I get this message whenever i close Mplayer. For your Information i use Aspire laptop without Joystick, just my Laptop and a USB Mouse. The same happen also when i use my Desktop, both have no Joysticks.

Hi all,

We can reduce the Boot time of Elive by disabling the wifi(Wlan)of the PC at the boot time ( Start time ) and enable it again when Elive enter the Desktop mode. Enabling WiFi will make the PC look for the last connected WLan before shutting down the PC and imagine that you are went back from the University to Home ( This means from Uni. Network to your Private Home Network ) In this case The PC will keep searching for the old Network try to connect itself to it, which will never find, and this will cost us just time in the boot Phase. Beside under Elive i find that we need a simple Programme to be added which can handle very simply Networks (WLAN) through the elpanel like small icon added to the Panel and with simple click enable the use to scan and then directly to connect the Pc to the desired Network.So such a Programme is a really need under Elive.

I would like to ask you if you can in the next stable version add the Arabic Keyboard Layout, this will be very helpful to users that want to write in Arabic like me. Beside there is alot of the users that use Arabic, this is an advantage to Elive.

Hi,

I noticed that PCMan does not recognize( Show ) the deleted files or the downloaded files directly,but just after refreshing the directory or to move to another one and then come back to the same one. Just in this case i can see if the file is deleted or not. Sometimes PCman remove the files immediately, but most of the time not.

Using IceWeasel 2.0.0.3-1-2 (elive repository) extensions are forcedfully added for known fyletypes. Given a file filename.pdf, once downloaded it will be called filename.pdf.pdf, unles the user removes the extension in the file save dialog. I’ve seen the same behaviour with ppt, doc, tgz and other kind of files.
Unknown extensions are preserved with no problem (edj files).

If I insert a floppy in my floppy drive (normal desktop system), it will be not mounted, respectevely is not visible in Thunar. I have seen in Hal-Device-Manager, the floppy is available, but the value of the block device is /dev/fd0. But I have no /dev/fd0.

Live CD doesn’t stops loading due to kernel panic: Thinkpad 600E with toshiba cdrom (24x) drive

message on screen:
invalid compressed format (err=2)
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount rootfs on unknown block (1,0)

(on my desktop PC live mode works fine) Revolution 2 works fine on my thinkpad (has there been a change in method of compression??)

When USB device is mounted and not correctly unplugged/unmounted (for example my camera switched off after 10minutes of not using it),it is difficult to mount it again. System should remember what device was mounted where (for example for the time from startup the system)and if there comes message from device on USB,system should have a look if it was already mounted this session and write it again in FSTAB.
