It would be useful to be able to choose a partition for /home without formatting it during the elive installation

after updating to unstable, /home/myuseraccount is gone, creating a new user works and after reboot new user is gone and old account is back

Hi, it is not a big bug,

after installing the Live CD to my system (Think Pad T22) the system didn’t work.
so i go through the config files, and there it was, in grub there was the first mistake, the drive was labeled there as sda2 and had to be hda2.
The same mistakes were in fstab, all drives were labeled with sda where hda were recommanded.
As i fixed it manual Elive workes grate for me.

/apps does not exist.

Receiving emails with links and clicking on them will not open any browser, no matter what kind of environment is set on Xfce preferred applications

2.6.7.15 kernel IBM T no hibernate (due too old kernel/no partition prepared after install (no notice)).Suspend works strange.Sometimes wakes up/sometimes hangs within suspending/waking.Hibernate tries to work but only beeps after insertin IBM_ACPI - should be inserted automaticaly when install recognized IBM ntb.LID switch only power off the lamp,not display.Power button doesn’t work-not recognized by acpi.No rules to run dimmer of LCD (battery/AC).. Some plugin/module would be fine..

I found out that if i browse with thunar then i launch mplayer for example to play a movie, it crashes if i close thunar window.
i tried the same with oxine but it doesn’t.

I just installed Elive stable and when I reboot and try to login, Elive tells me that my password is incorrect (I tryed it a lot of times, included in failsafe mode)

iceweasel crashes about every 1-1 1/2 hours

If I insert a floppy in my floppy drive (normal desktop system), it will be not mounted, respectevely is not visible in Thunar. I have seen in Hal-Device-Manager, the floppy is available, but the value of the block device is /dev/fd0. But I have no /dev/fd0.

Please, take care of this request. I don’t have a floppy disc in order to confirm the request. However on the Elive (Expert) installation there is a question about the automounter.

Two sound card configuration:
1.
I have in desktop PC two soundcards.After configuring them in elpanel,choosing one of them,I’m able to use sound through the choosen one. BUT after few restarts, the config autoswitch to the second one which means audio is OK,but play from the second sound card EVEN I have chosen other one.The audio mixer autoswitch to the proper features which support the sound card now playing.

If I want to use one sound car for sounds and the other for forexample skype,there is something missing.. In XMMS I’m able to choose ONLY one soundcard,even I have two.I can choose the card which is set from elpanel..

During my install of Elive from the development live cd, the text box came first, then the choice box came under it, hidden. I may have clicked the text box as the choice came up, causing this trouble. When nothing seemed to happen, I moved the box to find the choices underneath. Possible confusion, If the choice comes out beside and visible, no more trouble...

I’m absolutely unable to switch SMTP even I have two/three, thunderbird always takes the first one in que.Installing plugin with SMTP switch button does not solve anything..

If you try to install on existing partition, there’s little in your install GUI to identify the partition you are attempting to install to. In my case hdb1 hdb4 hdb5 were what was listed, with no specific info about any. I had two windows 2000 fat32 partitions, c: and d: and two linux partitions, a swap, and the main EXT3 partition to which Mepis was installed. as I installed, I reasoned that d: would be the middle, thus hdb4, but something made me retrace my steps. I quit the install and started again. I opened gparted this time, My mepis partition was hdb5! I would have overwritten 30 gig of data had I used hdb4! I can usually recognize the partition if a size is given, or even better, if the format type (fat 32 or linux swap or EXT2, or EXT3 or reiserfs or whatever...) I felt left in the dark at this stage, I caught my error, but not by much... If there’s a way to add this info to the installer it would greatly help people like me...

This is a bit confusing. When you are installing Elive on a disk that has already partitioned, it could be nice if we can show the “partition type” and “partition size” in order to identify where Elive will be installed.

in GEM 1.0 the stable version, i have this Problem. It started as i did the update.

I can not get the full screen mode when i play any video clip in youtube . I get just a small window in the left corner of my Screen, and the normal screen of youtube keeps running.

The auto luncher in GEM does not work. Whenever i insert a new empty CD to burn it, the auto luncher started and asks about if it should start the burner Program to start burning, and when i confirm the task, it did nothing ( do not start the Burner Program automatically ) so i have to do it myself.

My intel card GM965 x3100 don’t run ok. It’s a strange resolution.
The 3D acelerated it’s ok.

if you put a cd/dvd in system at boot, it does not mount until you open thunar and click on it.

Boot Disk Error when attempting to boot from ELIVE CD-R. I downloaded the ISO file to a CD-R, set boot mode in BIOS to CD ONLY and I get “BOOT DISK ERROR. PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER”. Tried putting it on one of my hard drives. Same problem. Any ideas my friends? I am running a home built machine with an ASUS M2N32-SLI deluxe motherboard and updated BIOS.

**CD/DVD image is valid. Tried diffent brands of CD/DVD still doesn't work.

When you click on the installer in Elive 1.7.7, there comes a window:
I’m sorry, the actual Installer of Elive needs to be rewrited and...

It should be “rewritten”, not “rewrited”.

I was not able to access the bookmarks on the Iceweasel and I was not able to use the right button on the mouse on my Toshiba laptop
