i tried to do apt-get dist-upgrade to upgrade my Wlan-Firmware but i get always this message:

Update held back ... ( in German update zurückgehalten ) and i do not know why?

I have burned two 1.9.17 cd’s from two different mirrors and they will not boot, I get this, Error-25- Disk read error

net-connector simply tries to connect then stops trying.

I am unable to get the live-cd mode to start the nvidia legacy 96xx driver/module. It fails after trying to unpack the 96xx kernel and uses the NV driver instead (meaning no 3d acceleration). 96xx is the correct version for my nvidia mx440 card and has worked perfectly in previously in past elive versions up to Gem. Unstable version 1.8.8 and the two previous unstable releases of them all had the same problem. Good slow burn at 8x speed and Md5 checked. not a particular release as it is exactly the same in those three 1.8.8 and below. Also an error box prompts at startup saying not all features have been started and recommends rebooting to try to get them working.

Installs fine, It installs the NV driver etc and when i try to switch to/install the 96xx after install I am not good enough at linux to get it working. It never starts x and pushes me to a login prompt.

During boot it even tells me there is an error and report it here.

virtualbox shows ghost entries:

The new kernel has fixed the broken headers issue according to debian buglist and to #debian.
I would suggest to switch asap to .26 and start providing headers as well

Its needed to make the shutdown prioritary on the sleep mode. Most of the time if i select shutdown, then close the lid, the pc goes into sleep instead of shutdown..
shutdown on eeepc can take up to 20 secs it should disable every suspend once the shutdown process is triggered

please add this module to elive, it works perfectly in ubuntu: only the 0.8.4 compiles correctly!

if i try to shutdown and after issuing the shutdown close the lid,
the eeepc goes into sleep instead.
It should be made to disable the sleep when the shutdown has been issued.

net-configurator works good, but it should put default netmasks when an ip is entered. unfortunately i was unable to lease an ip from my ap using dhcp, either via exalt either via net-configurator.

merge the eeepc configuration for eeepc with the original e17 configuration, there’s wrong things like setvolume hotkeys

try to made the capture mode for the mic enabled by default (skype and other apps working out of the box then)

We have the need for a working net-connector as soon as possible in order to iron out all the bugs
I would suggest that LinuxNit does the packaging himself in order to provide always up to date packages, this package should be labeled net-connector-dev in order to prevent normal users to install if not willing.

i tried to upgrade my 1.9.16 install on the eeepc, with unetbootin and an sd card i tried as usual to install elive. this time the installer doesnt detect my installed system and doesnt offer to upgrade it.
thus proceeding as a fresh install.
installation was aborted by me to prevent overwriting my hdd.

I installed the num lock package for having num lock enabled in x sessions, however every time i reboot there is no num lock in my elive.

I noticed that from time to time resuming the eeepc from sleep results in a frozen screen with entrance showing. Is not possible to type name or password, and the system is responsive only to “poweroff reboot by hardware button”.
This has happened a few times after long standby (over 20 minutes).
I’ve been unable to switch to tty for further investigations..

According to the ppl in #eeepc the cpu of the eeepc4g doesn’t support speedstep and they advised me to disable p4-clockmod since can cause unstability.
I found also on wiki.eeeuser.com that the default clock of the eeepc is 630mhz and is not possible to change it in any way (but there is an experimental linux kernel module to bring up to 900mhz the clock, at a cost of unstability).
this needs investigation, if its true, then it should be advisable to remove the modules from the eeepc special install...
w/o p4-clockmod my system seems very responsive while on battery, and the duration of the battery seems unchanged: 2.50h.
I suggest to make some test with the eeepc, i am doing the same.

i confirm that 1.9.20-1.9.21 kernel panic during bootup when using the latest nonfree virtualbox (2.1.0).
This happens on an Athlon Xp 2200, on a centrino 1.4Ghz which have different versions of elive installed:
The athlon has 1.9.20 upgraded and the centrino has 1.9.18 dist-upped to current.

more and more often when i open small windows such as pidgin or amsn e17 puts them on the border of the screen so that i can see only a tiny piece...
i have then to grab then and move to a better position.
I don’t know if is smth related to wrong settings but for sure i didn’t have this is gnome and it doesn’t look nice..

new installation of 1.9.21, the machine has a matrox card, seems that it keeps double clicking.

well, i talk in other post of random crashed, well i think i have found wwhy!

i think he is gadjet, who crashed elive, and we have a segdev windows, and impossible , to connect on my desktop!!

I tried to install LXDE and to start it tru entrance.
Unfortunately it doesn’t work, every time i try to start LXDE entrance reboots..
thus is impossible to use LXDE.
