As I understand it, the driver and firmware are available as Debian modules as well.

Version 1.9.44 , mode installed , system buttons to shutdown, restart, do not work , in Live CD mode, do well.

Synaptic or root terminal will not open. asks for root password, then it dissappears. I’m kind of stuck if I cant get to either of those.....

Thanks to the report of DronAn[BY], aparently the connect and disconnect buttons has dissapeared, there’s a few screenshots:

The reason of this is the russian language that screws something somewhere... there’s an error message found in the terminal:

UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xd0 in position 0: ordinal not in range(128)

I don’t know the reason of why this affects the button and no other parts of the interface (see screenshot), but for now, since this is a very important bug (some ppl will not connect!), i have just disabled from gettext the message that broke this :) (note: the broking thing is not the button message but other element, please see the commit in this ticket comments)

This bug is reported by Pacma, but in order to resolv it i recommend a different way to manage the default profile (wired):

Aparently if you have the default and the X profile configuration, if you select the X one and then try to connect, NC automatically changes to the default one making it impossible to autoconnect to the X profile.

I think that instead of the actual method of work, we should only permit one (and only one) autoconnect profile (not needed to be the “default” one), so there’s no possible to have 2 autoconnect profiles coexisting, if the user try this, a question message will appear asking if want to replace the autoconnect “previous” profile and use this one instead.

crash during installation

When I install the 1.9.42 unstable compiz version it crashes when getting software from the internet. This has happened on my PC always then using a fresh installation. If I have an older version installed it doesn’t crash then. But once the OS is installed and booted, and I use apt-get or synaptic to install software it also crashes while downloading the software.

After install with elive-compiz 1.9.40 it starts the fine tunning and it gets so far and i get Error: module slamr does not exist in proc/modules.Have tried several times to fine tune but the same error.

When installing on a HP Pavilion dv6000, sl-modem-daemon (and sl-modem-modules-KERNEL) gets installed, and they mess up the fine tune process.

Sometimes it just freezes and goes no further but sometimes it produces a kernel oops.

I’ve removed the sl-modem-daemon and modules since I have no use for it (and I cannot turn off the modem in the bios of the laptop).
And now the fine tune just completed.

(a newcomer might not realize what to do to make it work and then give up on the installation)

After to upgrade net-connector im unable to use it (daemon not running aparently), the daemon doesn’t want to start (init.d) because there’s teh file /var/run/net-connectord.pid existing, if this doesn’t do any problem, i will recommend to remove it at every “stop” action of the daemon (+ kill/close any possible daemon running), maybe also at every “start” of the daemon ? so i dont think that there will be a problem to restart the daemon (connection doesn’t drops, if im not wrong)

Version 1.9.38(18/08/09) , boot problems , no graphical system , single boot: option (Failsafe boot problems).
After install, no usplash.

don’t have tty1,2,3,4,5,6
when I press < ctrl + alt + F2,3,4,5,6 > I just see a black screen with blinking cursor on top left ( no login ). Pressing < ctrl + alt + F1 > I see boot logs, but not login. ‘ps -A | grep getty’ gives me no results. In /etc/inittab tty lines are uncommented and the file was not modified.
version 1.9.31 upgraded with ‘aptitude update && aptitude safe-upgrade && aptitude dist-upgrade’ the problem was the same before upgrade too.
The problem/bug happen on my both pc desktop and netbook aspire1

There is a simple instruction how to add this Driver and the Printer to Debian, but it did not work for me well, i had to start cups whenever i want to print out somthing, and under the superuser mode. This is the Link for it :

Subj: elive_1.9.31_unstable ISO file - Grub Menu is wrong!

If you check the contents of the menu.lst file in the boot/grub folder and compare the kernel and initrd filenames in the menu to the actual filenames, you will see that they do not match (spelling issue with “_” and “-” characters), thus it is not possible to boot the system.
Since I was using FAT32 partition (with grub4dos and the original menu.lst file from the iso) to which I extracted the contents of the ISO file, I was able to boot the installer after editing the grub menu.lst file. I have yet to get the installer working correctly, since the system boots but doesn’t continue with the installer...

Under this version of Elive Elive_1.9.23_unstable

whenever i try to activate the Audio mixer Gadget it just dissapear on the next start, but what i realized that it does not dissapear completly, it still there but i have to change the resolution of my Monitor to see it on its place. I have 1024 x 1280

but when i move to 1024x 768 i found this Gadget there. (Wierd)

EEEpc701:can’t change any options in the installer:
i choose ext3 partition, no bluetooth, but after reboot i got a reiserFS partition and all packages.

Aparently if you install Elive with / as JFS and rebooting from the e17 menus, the JFS root partition is mounted as RO in the next boot

Please do details about how to reproduce this bug, in a updated version of elive (< 1.9.30)

I’m running Elive 1.9.18 Development on laptop Msi VR630X. While running Skype I received a message that I don’t have webcam and microphone wasn’t working either (microphone and webcam are built-in).
