I am unable to get the live-cd mode to start the nvidia legacy 96xx driver/module. It fails after trying to unpack the 96xx kernel and uses the NV driver instead (meaning no 3d acceleration). 96xx is the correct version for my nvidia mx440 card and has worked perfectly in previously in past elive versions up to Gem. Unstable version 1.8.8 and the two previous unstable releases of them all had the same problem. Good slow burn at 8x speed and Md5 checked. not a particular release as it is exactly the same in those three 1.8.8 and below. Also an error box prompts at startup saying not all features have been started and recommends rebooting to try to get them working.

Installs fine, It installs the NV driver etc and when i try to switch to/install the 96xx after install I am not good enough at linux to get it working. It never starts x and pushes me to a login prompt.

During boot it even tells me there is an error and report it here.

2007, 2.14Ghz Macbook (white) does not connect to wep hex network on the livecd.

net-connector simply tries to connect then stops trying.
iwconfig essid name key yeahitshere gives the following error:

I have burned two 1.9.17 cd’s from two different mirrors and they will not boot, I get this, Error-25- Disk read error

Update held back ... ( in German update zurückgehalten ) and i do not know why?

My Intel PRO/Intel 3945ABG (802.11a/b/g) wlan card works in all distributions fine (including debain). i have tested now Elive 1.7.7 & Elive 1.9.02. i can find the network and if i try to connect i can also find the access point but i can´t enter the wlan.

Some programs (amsn on top of all) request the device /dev/sound/dsp and /dev/sound/mixer
both are missing in the latest elive
then no sound is possible.

Wireless Settings, does not work using Elpanel Icon, manual iwconfig commands work fine. Using iwconfig wlan0 essid myssid does set and associate with my base router; iwlist wlan0 scan does list the many networks around me; dhclient wlan0 does get an IP from the server.

None of which happens from the icon based script(?) but just sits there running continuously (for 4-5 minutes atleast.) After doing a manual setup, the Status for wlan0: window does list the correct state.

wlan0 is an Airlink pci .11G card, works with many other distros’ wizards, e.g. Mepis, Puppy, Sudix, some of the BSD’s that I have tried.

(As I have just a few machines on line that don’t change, I use Mac Filtering and neither WEP nor either WPA.)

The machine running Elive is a relatively new GeForce6100SM-M MoBo with an Athlon 64×2 and 1GB of ram.

Installed 1.8.2 on an HP Pavilion, the touch pad is fine but when the USB mouse is plugged in it won’t pull up application menu’s, or it will pull them up REAL fast and then close them when you release the button. What they do seems consistant of the application like Firefox3 won’t pull up the pull down menu’s where as Pidgin will come up with menu’s but hide them when you let go of the mouse button.

This is new when 1.8.2 was installed from previous version.

In 1.9.02 version, while moving/copying files with special character (accented letters - Brasillian), Thunar report error.

Livecd crashes randomly several times, if a crash occurs during upgrade of the system, all the upgrade process is lost and it works as a clean install on next reboot.
I have been unable to test the upgrade feature since eeepc has crashed 4-4 times during the upgrade of the system, thus losing all data of users and password.

i noticed that the default way elive boots on eeepc is in spanish language!!! i think this is an error, it should boot in english!!

Even if i deselect the “show label” button a name of the icon is always shown with init-ng.

Can’t installing Elive on VMWare. The Eliveinstaller reports this:

Error Information:
	An exit code of 1 was returned from sudo eliveinstaller.

Output Data:
	There was no output

Error Logs:
	There was no error message

It happens after I make the partitions, then I choose where goes Swap and where goes Root, and so Eliveinstaller crashes saving this in the log!

love the distro but just can’t get the wireless driver working,using elive 1 running with a prism 3886 wireless card which is not recognized,loaded windows driver with ndis wrapper,loaded wicd.wicd will not load and can’t get any access to internet other then through Ethernet.

Hotkeys doesn’t correctly disable and enable the wifi adaptor.

When using elive on an eeepc exalt doesn’t work correctly:

• It doesn’t show the quality of signal giving always minimum signal

• It doesn’t show open or encrypted access point showing and treating all of them as encrypted

I noticed that dhcp doesnt lease an ip when trying to connect to a wep AP either via exalt or via net-configurator. It is possible to connect via static ip.

a patch from debian (about xscreensaver) made it that doesn’t run, rebuild mplayer (patch to remove patch actually added to the builder of packages of elive)

I think the default governor should be ondemand instead of performance. in this way the user won’t be scared of the full power fan always running

iceweasel shows some websites in memory when trying to write a website, it shouldnt have any sign of previous use. it would be also nice to have the fullscreen plugin available, on eeepc it works really nicely!

There are a few minor stuff in elive 1.8.4:

• the cpufreq module is not working correctly and gives error

• exalt doesn’t work properly (but is well known)

• trackpad configuration is almost perfect but still some strange behaviour when trying to tap

• on resume from suspend wicd sometimes behaves crappy

• logging should be disabled, all the logging daemons should be disabled in order to extend ssd life

• there are quite a few daemons which could be disabled

• menu ghost applications are still there as well as thunar umount strangerness (well known)

great release, almost 100% works!

AMSN doesn’t detect the eeepc camera even if it is working correctly.

Even after installing thunar thumbnailer thunar is unable to show raw camera images
