Confirmed.. there is a bug using bittorrent clients in elive 0.6.7 unstable, using bittornado, ktorrent or even the simple Opera torrent utility, it downloads but in a very low speed, about 5.0 kbs/per sec, while rebooting in the same machine, with another Linux OS download with same software, it downlaods at the top of my line ( about 250 Kbs/per sec ) without any problems.

Latest version (2.8.6 Beta) . Be good to have possibility to boot into UEFI (not only standard BIOS).
A self signed key is fine as 90% of machines will allow this.

Notes: self signed key is the requirement for the “Secure Boot” part

I am unable to get the live-cd mode to start the nvidia legacy 96xx driver/module. It fails after trying to unpack the 96xx kernel and uses the NV driver instead (meaning no 3d acceleration). 96xx is the correct version for my nvidia mx440 card and has worked perfectly in previously in past elive versions up to Gem. Unstable version 1.8.8 and the two previous unstable releases of them all had the same problem. Good slow burn at 8x speed and Md5 checked. not a particular release as it is exactly the same in those three 1.8.8 and below. Also an error box prompts at startup saying not all features have been started and recommends rebooting to try to get them working.

Installs fine, It installs the NV driver etc and when i try to switch to/install the 96xx after install I am not good enough at linux to get it working. It never starts x and pushes me to a login prompt.

During boot it even tells me there is an error and report it here.

There isn’t the driver for Linux Realtek RTL8111(B)/RTL8168(B)
(module r1000).

The driver for bcm43xx(broadcom 4318) is buggy(unusable), the best way is using ndiswrapper and windows*sic* drivers, contact me if you need something!

Today I got an error from eltrans when trying to send an updated version of the g3-dialer messages in English. It says that my translations cannot be recognized as English. I have tried again twice, but to no avail. This also seems to explain why there are no updates coming from myself in the timeline anymore except for a very tiny one from yesterday.

Bug or something else?

I have a couple old computers with Ati Rage 128 Pro 32MB cards. In both Revolution releases the detection of the video card dos not work properly and asks to choose fglrx, radeon or VESA drivers for X11, the first two failing, obviously, and the third one being terribbly slow.
The driver to use is r128, and changing that in /etc/X11/xorg.conf and restarting the X system everything works perfectly.

Using IceWeasel 2.0.0.3-1-2 (elive repository) extensions are forcedfully added for known fyletypes. Given a file filename.pdf, once downloaded it will be called filename.pdf.pdf, unles the user removes the extension in the file save dialog. I’ve seen the same behaviour with ppt, doc, tgz and other kind of files.
Unknown extensions are preserved with no problem (edj files).

In 1.9.02 version, while moving/copying files with special character (accented letters - Brasillian), Thunar report error.

My system has a TDK 48/14/48D USB CD-Burner, which I have used to burn all of my Linux distros, then subsequently boot and install from them in the same drive.

Not so with Elive 1.0 GEM! By the way, I checked the Checksum and it matched.

When I boot from this CD in this drive, I see two lines at the top of the screen:

Unknown keyword in the config file

Then I can select ‘English’ and ‘Default’, after which I can go no further than this screen:

Elive 0.53 unstable using fglrx driver option....fails and the screen rest black and any key or combination works.
Just after choosing between ati driver options.
With 0.51 unstable works well.
My pc: AMD 1000, ATI-9550 and Compaq 17” monitor.

I`m running 1.9.56 development Version on my Laptop with a X1300 Mobility radeon.
Compiz works under Ubuntu 9.10 out of the box. I use there the OSS ati driver.

On Elive there seems to be a bug with the included ati driver. I’ve tried several Notebooks with ATI graphic cards. None of them worked.
On every machine I’ve got the following message:

Shutdown process hangs and will never terminate properly.

I`m using elive 2.0 on my ThinkPad T60. After fresh installation I face the problem that the system is not shutting down or reboot properly.
If I shutdown the system from the terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F2) I see that the process is going to run till the message
“Asking all processes to terminate ...” appears. Then it hangs. I have to press the Hardwarebutton.

With the new installer in 2.3.1 iso the reiserfs4 cab still be selected ad the desired FS but after install on boot it seems the reiserfs4 modules are still missing!

Hibernation just blanks screen, session still life in background (sound movie still playing) system unresponsive (mouse works, no screen). Calling the hibernation script with kill apps that prevent hibernation switch does shutdowns the system but on restart a whole bunch of journal replays are done and a clean desktop is shown (all applications have been killed). Sleep mode works like a charm!

I am noticing a complete slow down in computer operations when opening the interface properties menu for wifi configuration.
Using the clock applet as a gauge, the seconds get updated every 2 to 4 seconds (this time interval varies.) Mouse and text operations are only accessible in these intervals, as well.

Also, for example, once finished filling the properties and clicking OK, the little activation window that comes up with the little bar scanning back and forth (while the wifi signal is being captured) takes 15 seconds to go from one side to the other!!!
This slowdown has been noticed on all versions .5.1 through the rel2!

I have not been successful at wifi connection in ANY of versions .5.1 through rel2!

After the notification of the first activication notice, most of the time the computer returns to normal operation speed...but not always. Re-boot is then necessary to return to normal speed.

Also when updating to rel2, during the install it said I needed the bcm-43xx driver...and I have the ralink. I used synaptic to remove the bcm-43xx driver thinking there may be a conflict, but that did not help.

running .6.1 unstable as live...
after filling out info for wifi config (this version works at this point, see bug report 57) I then hit the ‘activate’ button
keyboard entry is locked immediately...
after ~one minute (and/or after clicking activation button for the second time, as wifi was not enabled) mouse clicks no longer work, although cursor can still move around the screen and to different desktops, and after another minute, movement of cursor is limited to current desktop... I have not witnessed cursor being immobilized, but imagine that would happen after another period of time...
(witnessed this in dreamlinux 4.2 which also has the 2.6.18 kernel)

net configurator works like when wrong DNS entered. Several weeks ago, I missed my dns address on elive gem, and result was that I couldn’t open some of my internet provider’s pages. Now in the development version of elive I, entered the correct DNS number, but with same result.

Now I am downloading this strange but wonderfull OS!

I am from Russia and I am very very interested in Russian Localisation. There is some russian OS such as: Linux Mint Rosinka, Linux mint KDE Standart x86, but they are not stable and they requare tooooo much computer resourses.

pleeeeeease.... find interested peple, who will make russian localisation. I will try to find they too, but if u will do this, the auditorium of your os will rise in 10 times!!!!!
nobody knows about your os only because of localisation. And i find your os 10 minutes ago on rutracker.org ( the biggest russian tracker in the world, ex torrents.ru)

Mouse and wifi (Intel® Dual-Band Wireless-AC 8265?) not being detected (in live move) on Dell Latitude 7480 i7
a usb mouse plugged into the laptop is a work around.

The startup menus (keyboard settings etc) are not usable with just the keyboard, you need a mouse at this stage to start the distro

How do you alter the time on the background wallpaper changing. The default is way to fast

The new menu box that opens with a right mouse click is way to small, it looks cluttered. Can it be resized to hold the sub menu items neatly rather than the scroll bars at the side. (or a sizable window? it does not look as polished currently as the rest of the release.

Getting close to release, can you take down the current forums? I cannot suggest the disto to people , the first thing they do is go to the forum, and its mostly spam, not a lot of real content there. the main page is great, but the forums are a big let down to people I think. you need a nice new forum with the web page theme :~)
