i wish to know if it would be possible to have a gimp unstable build, since the old gimp is almost unusable due to having menues completely crazy, the new one is totally stable i am currently using on ubuntu.

I found out that if i browse with thunar then i launch mplayer for example to play a movie, it crashes if i close thunar window.
i tried the same with oxine but it doesn’t.

.6.6 Installer Issue - Floppy module hangs gparted weather floppy drive exists or not.

Many users are stuck with gparted trying to get drive information. They must close gparted and installer. Type su <enter>, rmmod floppy <enter> , then start installer again.

May not be elive-specific problem but does hang some people installing.

When USB device is mounted and not correctly unplugged/unmounted (for example my camera switched off after 10minutes of not using it),it is difficult to mount it again. System should remember what device was mounted where (for example for the time from startup the system)and if there comes message from device on USB,system should have a look if it was already mounted this session and write it again in FSTAB.

If I insert a floppy in my floppy drive (normal desktop system), it will be not mounted, respectevely is not visible in Thunar. I have seen in Hal-Device-Manager, the floppy is available, but the value of the block device is /dev/fd0. But I have no /dev/fd0.

Please, take care of this request. I don’t have a floppy disc in order to confirm the request. However on the Elive (Expert) installation there is a question about the automounter.

Confirmed.. there is a bug using bittorrent clients in elive 0.6.7 unstable, using bittornado, ktorrent or even the simple Opera torrent utility, it downloads but in a very low speed, about 5.0 kbs/per sec, while rebooting in the same machine, with another Linux OS download with same software, it downlaods at the top of my line ( about 250 Kbs/per sec ) without any problems.

Maybe need retype this descriptions in pure UTF-8 environment?

Sound card not found in VMWare, sound configuration tool states:

No supported PnP or PCI card found. Would you like to probe legacy ISA sound cards/chips?

In previous versions the sound worked.

This occurs in the latest release candidate.

Can’t login to system because I set Russian language.
I can’t switch to US input language.

xorg.conf:

XkbLayout "us"

US language must be use always as mandatory language.
Any another language must be added as next language.

I asked many times before to add the VPNC to Elive, but what is good to have the last VPNC, simply because it is much more better than the included version to Elive now.

Thunar lost his root privilegue after some apt-get upgrade to umount device. Only in console as a root I can now do it..

Computer : Dell Inspiron 1100 with intel i845 graphic chip

Problem : with VLC or mplayer

I can switch a video to fullscreen mode, but, i can’t switch back to normal size, i have a black screen, with all possible video output (XV, X11, OpenGL.....)

I found a temporary solution :

Open a video normaly with mplayer, then do ALT + Right Click, fullscreen

There, E17 will switch the window in fullscreen, mplayer doesn’t anything and to switch back in normal size, do the same operation, ALT = Right Click, uncheck fullscreen.

This problem appears since 0.6.7 from memomry.

Cinelerra hangs on start and it’s not possible to do anything.

Is it possible to add bidi support to e17 so right to left languages wont be displayed backwards. and also after changing font of the titlebar the title font of windows with default borders wont change.

If you try to install on existing partition, there’s little in your install GUI to identify the partition you are attempting to install to. In my case hdb1 hdb4 hdb5 were what was listed, with no specific info about any. I had two windows 2000 fat32 partitions, c: and d: and two linux partitions, a swap, and the main EXT3 partition to which Mepis was installed. as I installed, I reasoned that d: would be the middle, thus hdb4, but something made me retrace my steps. I quit the install and started again. I opened gparted this time, My mepis partition was hdb5! I would have overwritten 30 gig of data had I used hdb4! I can usually recognize the partition if a size is given, or even better, if the format type (fat 32 or linux swap or EXT2, or EXT3 or reiserfs or whatever...) I felt left in the dark at this stage, I caught my error, but not by much... If there’s a way to add this info to the installer it would greatly help people like me...

This is a bit confusing. When you are installing Elive on a disk that has already partitioned, it could be nice if we can show the “partition type” and “partition size” in order to identify where Elive will be installed.
It’s not a bug, but it’s still opened as a “feature request” </Thanatermesis>

This could be not considered even a “feature request” because is my own desire.

During the installation of Elive, sometimes you have to wait several minutes between installation steps. During this minutes I have tempted to do some other things (in fact I was using the IRC).

But I had a problem with my installation because an installation window suddenly raised to focus and I pressed “space” (because I’m writting on the IRC) and, obviously the installation window assumed that I’ve pressed some button on its screen.

The fact is that maybe installation windows doesn’t have to raise to focus or maybe, no keyboard shortcuts would be available on those screens.

Cinelerra won’t launch for me using the latest e17 from the “tests” branch of the Elive repos (it has never launched, even when I tried
it under the default e17 from Gem).

When I try to run it, I get a small, transparent window in the upper
left corner of my screen. When I close that window, I get this error
message:

“Application Execution Error: Cinelerra stopped running unexpectedly.
There was no error message. An exit code of 1 was /usr/bin/cinelerra.”

By the way, it does launch under e16, but with an error message about memory...

Tengo un portatil Acer TravelMate 4002 WLMi con smart baterry. Elive no reconoce el estado de la batería, más concretamente, elive cree que el portatil está conectado continuamente a corriente aunque eso no sea así. Así mismo no me monitoriza la carga de la batería aunque si sabe que es un portatil. Creo que es por el kernel. En ubuntu cuando actualizas a la versión 16 del kernel pasa lo mismo, sin embargo en la versión 15 funciona perfectamente.
