Installation of 1.9.41 does not ask locality. No facility to set keymap or timezone at installation or in Elpanel.

Version 1.9.32 updated three weeks ago with ‘aptitude update && aptitude safe-upgrade && aptitude dist-upgrade’

I have since two days no more sound. No more enlightenment-sound-gadget, nothing
with alsamixer. The only way is to give as root ‘alsa reload’. So sound came back, but
alsamixer continue to display no channels.
Tried to reconfigure sound with elivepanel, with ‘audiomanager’, with ‘audio-configurator’ but nothing change. Just ‘alsa reload’

Hola! Tengo tres problemas:

1- Al cerrar sesión el sistema se bloquea.

2- Cuando pongo el equipo en suspensión o le doy a hibernar, me ocurre que al volver al escritorio Internet no funciona y si reinicio todo vuelve a la normalidad, esto ya me pasaba con el sistema estable.

3- Cuando intento actualizar no me deja y todo es darle al botón pero ahí se queda sin poder actualizar.

Version 1.9.41 con el live cd tengo sonido , al instalar no hay sonido , intento cargar el emodule mixer y
me da error “Gestreamer no puede cargar ningun codec” desde El Panel no hay posibilidad de configuracion ya que
solo dispongo de una tarjeta de audio.

Asi que decido hacer un reinicio i sorpresa tengo sonido i funciona todo perfecto.

De todas formas lo expongo aqui para que lo tengan en cuenta , se necesitan 3 reinicios para que esta version funcione bien.

The Dell D610 is one of the many laptops with an adapter that uses this driver.

don’t have tty1,2,3,4,5,6
when I press < ctrl + alt + F2,3,4,5,6 > I just see a black screen with blinking cursor on top left ( no login ). Pressing < ctrl + alt + F1 > I see boot logs, but not login. ‘ps -A | grep getty’ gives me no results. In /etc/inittab tty lines are uncommented and the file was not modified.
version 1.9.31 upgraded with ‘aptitude update && aptitude safe-upgrade && aptitude dist-upgrade’ the problem was the same before upgrade too.
The problem/bug happen on my both pc desktop and netbook aspire1

Trying to install Elive 3.8.9 beta and get message of no wifi drivers found.This is a HP Envy x360 convertible laptop.This is the output of my wireless interface.

love the distro but just can’t get the wireless driver working,using elive 1 running with a prism 3886 wireless card which is not recognized,loaded windows driver with ndis wrapper,loaded wicd.wicd will not load and can’t get any access to internet other then through Ethernet.

PLEASE be describable, clear, and direct. Think that we need to understand, found, and solve the bug.

elive 2.9.2 USB I have tried this in a Pentium system and cannot fully boot an hangs with message: module dm_raid45 not found in modules.dep

Thanks a lot for great work of art and development!
There is however a critical bug for Russian l10n: if one chooses Russian from the initial boot menu of Topaz 2.0 stable, the encodings for NTFS become look like this: ru_RU.KOI-8.utf8 and because there is no such encoding set, all those partitions must first after booting in become unmounted (as the distro mounts them automatically which is great, but sadly not in this error case), then the encoding for ALL ntfs partitions in /etc/fstab must be manually changed under root to one of the normal one, like ru_RU.utf8 (I always just deleted that obsolete KOI-8 records), and then become again mounted normally.
This bug also causes an error or a couple of them during the boot-in process, and definitely prevents users from adequate access onto their ntfs partitions, as naturally all Cyrillic chars become unavailable, and mount problems, etc.

Just to mention: when the world does already have UTF, national encodings look as obsolete and as odd as using the sudo scheme while I totally agree with your philosophy of “if you want to become root, simply type “su -”, enter password and become root”.

The bug spoils everything equally out of a live CD or a live USB stick.

Just to notice: KOI-8 as a Russian national localization encoding is almost not used anywhere by now (March 2014). UTF8 has already for pretty long been a recommended and much more effective encoding set to properly map and operate over Cyrillic chars. The great example of simple UTF8 implementation of l10n is in a commercial by now live CD/USB distro of PartedMagic.
Thus a question: is it posssible to get a rebuilt version of the same Topaz 2.0 or much better a newer stable bootable elive system with the described bug fixed?

It would be useful to be able to choose a partition for /home without formatting it during the elive installation

It’d be great a non graphical installtion like debian’s one, so that older hardware with low memory (under 512mb) will be able to install the os without needing to swap and, possibly, taking less than a hour.

after creating the bootable usb with the elive tool the img isn’t trusted and therefor can’t be installed or upgrade systems

Running on a Dell Optiplex 320, 4Gb Ram, ATI Vid -Running Live CD

Video and audio hardware detected correctly.
Opening screen (Desktop) should have not only clock but also the current date somewhere.
Ice Weasel browser handles multimedia well. I have noticed odd behavior browsing on Piratebay.org, after loading initial page, subsequent ones, after clicking navigation controls on bottom of page, refuse to load???
Need to have an email client (s/b able to be configured & tested on live CD)
-Outstanding distro. Keep up the excellent work. Looking forward to next version.

I installed the num lock package for having num lock enabled in x sessions, however every time i reboot there is no num lock in my elive.

While booting numlock doesn’t enable this could be handy for passwords

I’m using Elive-dev 1.9.48 and tried testing nurse-mode.
It started booting and when the System asked for my root-password it did not accept it but kept on asking for the password again and again.

Is it possible the system simply loaded the wrong keymap?

I update my stable version and my NVIDIA card not run actually.
I would compil the nvidia-kernel to resolv this problem but it’s impossible (problem whit gcc version).

In my installation of elive 1.7.8 nvidia drivers work offering only a 800×600 definition.
Installing nvidia-xconfig packages and running it fixes the resolution but breaks glx
Seems the DCC is not properly working.
Samsung X10 laptop.

i have NVIDIA fuzion fx5500 pci 256mb when elive tryes to login all i get is command prompt with user:,it doesnt get to real login screen,when i take out the card elive works fine with my intel internal

The live cd bootups, i choosed nvidia 173...driver (recomended by the system), resolution 1280×1024, but no way, the screen is shown on 640×480, after taht i tried with al the drivers avaliable on the elivecd without luck.

Opcions Panel > screen > screen resolution: shows only avaliable 640×480

The same thing happened with a FX7200

I am unable to get the live-cd mode to start the nvidia legacy 96xx driver/module. It fails after trying to unpack the 96xx kernel and uses the NV driver instead (meaning no 3d acceleration). 96xx is the correct version for my nvidia mx440 card and has worked perfectly in previously in past elive versions up to Gem. Unstable version 1.8.8 and the two previous unstable releases of them all had the same problem. Good slow burn at 8x speed and Md5 checked. not a particular release as it is exactly the same in those three 1.8.8 and below. Also an error box prompts at startup saying not all features have been started and recommends rebooting to try to get them working.

Installs fine, It installs the NV driver etc and when i try to switch to/install the 96xx after install I am not good enough at linux to get it working. It never starts x and pushes me to a login prompt.

During boot it even tells me there is an error and report it here.

Not much info, i just know that it not works, so:

• see if the module loads correctly (modprobe nvidia and run dmesg too)
• see if the version of the module package and the glx package are the same version
• read X logs
• use the xorg.conf of the installed system

I installed the Elive_1.9.23_unstable and after installing nvidia-settings and started it in the Superuser mode. I had a wierd thing. It changed the default Keyboard from German to English and could not restore it again to German.
