Version 1.9.41 con el live cd tengo sonido , al instalar no hay sonido , intento cargar el emodule mixer y
me da error “Gestreamer no puede cargar ningun codec” desde El Panel no hay posibilidad de configuracion ya que
solo dispongo de una tarjeta de audio.

Asi que decido hacer un reinicio i sorpresa tengo sonido i funciona todo perfecto.

De todas formas lo expongo aqui para que lo tengan en cuenta , se necesitan 3 reinicios para que esta version funcione bien.

Hola! Tengo tres problemas:

1- Al cerrar sesión el sistema se bloquea.

2- Cuando pongo el equipo en suspensión o le doy a hibernar, me ocurre que al volver al escritorio Internet no funciona y si reinicio todo vuelve a la normalidad, esto ya me pasaba con el sistema estable.

3- Cuando intento actualizar no me deja y todo es darle al botón pero ahí se queda sin poder actualizar.

Version 1.9.32 updated three weeks ago with ‘aptitude update && aptitude safe-upgrade && aptitude dist-upgrade’

I have since two days no more sound. No more enlightenment-sound-gadget, nothing
with alsamixer. The only way is to give as root ‘alsa reload’. So sound came back, but
alsamixer continue to display no channels.
Tried to reconfigure sound with elivepanel, with ‘audiomanager’, with ‘audio-configurator’ but nothing change. Just ‘alsa reload’

Installation of 1.9.41 does not ask locality. No facility to set keymap or timezone at installation or in Elpanel.

The free download of the installation module does not appear after waiting for many minutes on the site, in the donation section to download the installation.

Una vez instalado todo los programas que son ejecutados en menu que necesitan root no se ejecutan piden clave pero se queda parado, en terminal funcionan perfectamente.

Thanks for a distro that has wireless working right out of the box, and flash, and quicktime, and even avi playing. But that is even a little flaky. But it wont play dvd’s using mplayer or oxine, or any of the players that are on the rep. I have a compaq armada notebook that needs all networking connections working, internet working and I want my multimedia. Thanks for the try but I’m moving down the road to the next distro...One of these will work like it should....good luck

I am making a syslinux.cfg for my USB stick, and I noticed that the arguments passed to the kernel are the same if you choose No Bluetooth or No Temperature.

Attempting to escape from prisoner status at M$. Have tried many distros over past few months, E17-Compiz my favorite so far. Have downloaded and installed latest version, 1.9.40 and during installation process, of course, installer verfied my download as being good.

Problem 1) No audio, Audacity (the Denon player)and Audio CD extractor both DEAD, nothing happens, no instruction. However, when I play a DVD, using movie player, I have sound? Either bug or are there special codecs that need to be downloaded to play CD’s and MP3‘s?

Problem 2) Each and EVERY time I boot E17-compiz, after it finalizes, a window pops up saying it needs to “fine tune”. This process takes almost 10-15 mins and always ends with: ERROR: Module slamr does not exist in /proc/modules. It would seem something in the loading of the info off the Live CD is incompatible? I have deleted and re-installed whole system, same problem, cannot stop/prevent “FINE TUNE”

Problem 3) E17-Compiz will NOT shut down. Go to System, power off and a window pops up advising of shut down, but stating: “please wait” After 10 minutes of waiting, still nothing happening. This problem happens every single time requiring me to Alt + SysRq+O to get out. Perhaps the shut down and fine tune are related as E17-compiz is not shutting down properly and is noted on the next boot triggering the “fine tune”.

If these are not “bugs” (although I have spent hours on each problem) please advise corrective measures in simple, easy to follow instruction. I note forum is not much help on most problems and this is one thing that really discourages people who are trying to leave M$ from going to Linux.

I am happy to pay for support or even to financially invest in this project as I like what I see, but am discouraged that basic things like sound, boot up and shut down do not work. I can understand and appreciate E17-Compiz is not stable, but one would think basics such as these would be way beyond the unstable/in development mode.

Thanks for any help you can provide and if bugs, I hope they can be corrected asap.

When I start for example the Elive-panel, and try to access items requiring the root passwd, gksu pops up, prompting me for the password, and upon entering it, it just goes back to the elive panel without anything else happening.

If i first fire up the elive-panel as root in the terminal, everything works fine - and I can configure the system.

Starting the panel from terminal without root privileges prints out this, as gksu disappears after trying to launch a program.

Xlib: No protocol specified

No access to my other partitions (Windows partition) for normal users. (Root user has access) This is not really a bug, but in the 0.4 all users had access.

Some programs (amsn on top of all) request the device /dev/sound/dsp and /dev/sound/mixer
both are missing in the latest elive
then no sound is possible.

When the install is finished and the update script has run - then it displays “News in elive”, but displays News for elive 1.9.02.

Sorry Elive forum tool does not allow me to post that and does not specify which words are not accepted....

In Ubuntu distros I am used to have a software that notify us of updates for the OS, kernel or the Apps I installed. How is it handled is Debian / Elive ? Do we need to keep our apps updated ourselves ? What about Kernel / ELive update ?

- New Kernel version :
is it better for us to not install more recent kernel versions available for Debian manually if there is one, should we wait that Elive team give us a go ?

- Installation manually of more recent version of software :
Is it ok if we install manually more recent versions of apps like libreOffice ? VirtualBox and so son...

are you ok with us using Snap or Flathub to install apps ? any comments are welcome.. for new users to linux, flat and snap are cool... But I don’t know all the cons...

Ok, i have look thunar and its a perfect candidate, very good options, not big, nice features, and a look vision to the future, you can install it actually on your Elive via apt-get...

Use from now this application normally, and look options and stuff, if you look any thing to looks bad, write here in a comment... write also a list of the special options to you think to needs to are configured for Elive (no mime-types for launch the correct applications), and you put here in a comment, and then i start to implement it for the first 0.6-beta’s release :)

My first bug report, so let us start with an easy one !

I run Elive 3.8.2 Beta on a HP-Z620.
When I want to eject a USB stick, a notification pops up to say not to unplug the peripheral because it is busy (some data having to be written on it) and stays indefinitely.
No clue when/if I can pull out the stick safely …

Upgraded to 1.9.10 and REAL NICE, saved all old data, even OZ themes with animated wallpaper that I had to configure previously.
I would like to recommend that the “profile name field” be filled in the network connector default such as “eliveuser” as the network does not work because the field is blank.
Upgrade did not remove Exalt from menu, just the icon.
I know you are working on network Icon so I won’t ask.

In the latest compiz dev release (1.9.42 unstable compiz) I can’t enter a static IP. It always reverts back to dhcp when I try to apply the proper address.

In network manager (gnome one,default in Elive)
If I choose from pre-defined location setting (I have made by myself months before) network-manager switch but closes with error report.

If I switch from active network eth0 from static IP to dynamic IP, nothing is changed until I deactive network and active it again.

If I deactive eth0 (it disapper in the default network connection used), again active it with another setting,close down manager, again open manager, there is still NO default network used-no connection.

In 1.9.18 and 1.9.19 in installed mode I have to open the network config.and click on connect every time i login to get on the internet, it will not remember my isp settings

Network connector 01.01 0.2.1 see my wlan but it’s impossible to connect.

I booted Live Mode on a Lenovo 110s ideapad laptop using a USB created with Etcher. Everything seems to work well with the exception of my wireless network adapter, it’s not recognized: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 Plus Bluetooth.
