I recognized this Error message on the boot.When i start the PC, i get this on the boot screen.

mount: accourding to mtab sysfs is already mounted on /sys Fault

I have elive Rev rl2 on my IBM thinkpad and for some reason when I try to boot I end up with a black screen or a blackscreen with a non-flashing comand promt just as the entrance logon screen is about to load as though the system has crashed at this point. It didn’t happen when I first installed elive but then when I tried to boot a second time after installation it happened. I thought maybe it was something I did and tried to reinstall but this time it took about 10 restarts before even the eliveCD would boot entrance properly in live mode. Anyway I reinstalled it seemed to work for a while and then again just now, entrance would not boot properly again even in recovery mode. I finally got it up again after repeatedly turning the laptop off and on again.

When entrance loads elive 0.6+ rl2 works perfectly, (such a perfect lil distro my battery even lasts 3-4hr twice that that with any other OS) it just this issue with entrance not being booted properly that’s the problem.

Is there something I have to change in the monitor setup, i.e. frequency? how do I do this in recovery mode comand line?

• If you create a new user, it can’t login to entrance since you dont wait that the selector of graphical system appears (at least having other graphical systems in the list like e16 listed in the list of window-managers to select (top-left corner))

When I attempt to change the theme for Entrance using using the command entrance_edit –theme <path to theme file>, entrance & x will not start. Fortunately I have Gdm installed as well & am able to boot from the Elive CD, then was able to edit /mnt/(my partition)/etc/X11/default-display-manager from entranced to gdm.
This allowed me to log back into my account after rebooting. To get it back to normal I have to completely uninstall all entrance files, reboot, log back in & then reinstall the entrance files & reboot again & entrance is back working. but how ever I am not able to change the theme for entrance using the entrance_edit –theme <path to theme file> command.

entangle and e17genmenu missing from default e17 menus. e noobs could well be put off by this, thinking they can’t edit the menus and the shortcut bar, at least not graphically. You have to know about entangle to use it to add itself to the e17 menus.

A shortcut to e17genmenu would be nice too.

When trying to change resolution screen goes black and a box appears showing that Enlightenment SEGV’d.

To reproduce this bug please boot Elive from a CD, selecting automatic resolution. After full boot up enter Settings Panel/Screen/Resolution and choose some other resolution and frequency but do not save your selection, just click “restore” button and then change frequency again. Now this crash should happen.
I supose this behaviour is easier to reproduce using CRT display.

My guess is that this SEGV happens because when you mark resolution and frequency for the first time and cancel, the choice of resolution is not remembered, but you are still able to choose frequency and try to set it.

My rig has GeForce 5700 FX and thus uses nvidia 173 driver.

In my old nettop ‘Acer aspire one’, the inserted SD memory card of my photo camera doesn’t shows in emodule-places unless “only ermovable devices” option is unset

Seems like we need to specify these values in cases that it is one of these cards, but in any case is needed to debug the output to see what it looks like

I’m using the 1.7.9 LiveCD version on a VirtualMachine (VirtualBox OSE), with all internet features working, but the Elive Translator just doesn’t work telling me the following error message:

“You need an internet connection in order to make translations”

The same happens if i type it under the terminal emulator. It also doesn’t work if i use it with the sudo command. I choosed on the boot screen the Brazilian Portuguese language, and i’m very excited to help Elive in the translating process.
I’m not using this version of Elive on my host computer because of an issue that i’ve already related in another bug report.
Anyway, i’m waiting for this feature to be ready and i’m going to put my efforts on the translation process.

Today I got an error from eltrans when trying to send an updated version of the g3-dialer messages in English. It says that my translations cannot be recognized as English. I have tried again twice, but to no avail. This also seems to explain why there are no updates coming from myself in the timeline anymore except for a very tiny one from yesterday.

Bug or something else?

I just found that Eltrans discarded and replaced my nearly finished “eltrans”(over 90%) Translations. Now it’s at about 30%! And I got no idea where all the work has gone to! Additionally both, the Fuzzy and “ready” Translations are of a really bad quality.

Hi! I really like working with Eltrans. It’s a really nice tool!
It would be nice to have the Possibility of translating everything Elive-related with Eltrans. For example all e17-Modules. And later maybe even other Applications?

I’ve installed Elive on an old Compaq P3 @700 Mhz, with more than 128Mb of memory.
The problem is that running as another user than root doesn’t allow the access to the elpanel.

The problem happened as soon as installed was completed, when I logged in with the user created during installation.
The ‘fine tune’ step seems to start, however I’m not able to confirm it does anything, neither if it ends after a while.

When trying to access an option in the elpanel, I get the prompt for the root account password.
If I enter a wrong password, the windows pops up again requesting the password.
If I enter the right password, the windows closes, but nothing happens.

I tried to login as root, and I have full access to the panel (even if I loose all my icons and bars).
I’ve tried to delete and create new users, but it still doesn’t work.

I’m quite a noob in Linux, but I don’t think I made a mistake (in fact I followed the installation step by step).
My drive is a 10Gb, split in one main partition of 7.5Gb for the system, and a 2.5Gb Linux-swap.
I’ve used the reiserfs format as suggested.

Please if I missed anything just tell me ^^

I added Gadgets-Icons to my Desktop. Then I found that they have no function and, even worse, I cant remove them anymore!

I added them like this:
Left-clicked the Desktop →Settings →Gadgets → select “Settings” or “Temperature” →click apply.

But I cannot find a way to remove them!
AND they cannot be moved and also do not have any use.

Subj: elive_1.9.31_unstable ISO file - Grub Menu is wrong!

If you check the contents of the menu.lst file in the boot/grub folder and compare the kernel and initrd filenames in the menu to the actual filenames, you will see that they do not match (spelling issue with “_” and “-” characters), thus it is not possible to boot the system.
Since I was using FAT32 partition (with grub4dos and the original menu.lst file from the iso) to which I extracted the contents of the ISO file, I was able to boot the installer after editing the grub menu.lst file. I have yet to get the installer working correctly, since the system boots but doesn’t continue with the installer...

Tried Elive on a cd. works great. Loaded Elive using the installer on the cd and all went well. I rebooted after it finished, I type in my user name and password and hit enter. The system will go down for a second and Elive will start again and the process starts all over. I cannot log in. Any help would be great.....

The PCMCIA ports are not loaded or unaccessible. It won’t read any card.

I cannot boot into the system. I am having problems moving forth after entering my passcode. One thing that happens is that it goes into “cryptsetup:sda5_crypt set up successfully”. It then processes and will not further.

Another is that if I hit F6 on initial boot, it will go into the process menu. Messages I saw on the thread were:

“No arrays found in config file or automatically.

Failure:failed to assemble all arrays.

Volume group “elive_vg” not found

Unable to find LVM volume elive_vg/root_lv

Elive_boot: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY.

fsck died with exit status 4

File system check failed

root password for maintenance”

i confirm that 1.9.20-1.9.21 kernel panic during bootup when using the latest nonfree virtualbox (2.1.0).
This happens on an Athlon Xp 2200, on a centrino 1.4Ghz which have different versions of elive installed:
The athlon has 1.9.20 upgraded and the centrino has 1.9.18 dist-upped to current.

a problem for elive 1.9.56 and earlier versions up from about 1.9.30: (where older versions did not have this problem, but i don’t know exactly)

description:
the startup elive sound is much too loud (almost breaking the speakers)

on Lenovo R61i (and probably other laptops of this brand)
on DELL Latitude C540 (and also other laptops of this brand)

i found a workaround:
after selection of language you add nosound to the command line options
then the sound will be just audible but not annoy your neighbourhood.

on other computers like Apple MacMini or Samsung the sound level is ok.

on Apple iMac elive does not sound at all.

i noticed that the default way elive boots on eeepc is in spanish language!!! i think this is an error, it should boot in english!!

My suggestion: If user has received a notification 3 times, They doN’t get one anymore

In elive panel it would have to ask the root password only once, when somebody click on the “admin and system configurations” menu, and not every time when click on one of it’s submenu.

I was playing with Elive on my new SSD and for the 2nd time today the GUI frozed

once there, I could go to CTRL + F1 console window and restart

Next time it freeze, is there something/log I could send you to help figure out why the GUI frozed ?
