Task Description
Hi !
I have the last Elive Development version elive_1.9.28_unstable installed on my Desktop. I know you will say who use FDD (Floppy Disk Drive) now adays. But i need to use it for my Keyboard to load new Keyboard Styles and Rhythems. The Floppy Drive write too slow. it takes more than 20 Minutes to finish writing and deleting.
Please try to fix that.

Task Description
If I drag the edge of a window to resize, the window will freeze for about 5-10 seconds. Happens on Live or Installed versions 1.9.27 and 1.9.29.
Three different installs give the same result.
I have a Pentium D with Nvidia 9500gt and a gig of RAM.
Solved this issue by typing this in cmd line, thanks to user Asides:

Hello!
I’m running 1.9.29-Compiz. The System HAS the file /dev/video0 And the webcam works well with “Cheese” (apt-get install cheese)
Now comes the weird Stuff: When trying to use “Webcam-Viewer” it replies:

Task Description
When I attempt to change the theme for Entrance using using the command entrance_edit –theme <path to theme file>, entrance & x will not start. Fortunately I have Gdm installed as well & am able to boot from the Elive CD, then was able to edit /mnt/(my partition)/etc/X11/default-display-manager from entranced to gdm. This allowed me to log back into my account after rebooting. To get it back to normal I have to completely uninstall all entrance files, reboot, log back in & then reinstall the entrance files & reboot again & entrance is back working. but how ever I am not able to change the theme for entrance using the entrance_edit –theme <path to theme file> command.

Task Description
After perspide a lot I started the live version via usb-pendrive
well, the 1.9.31 unstable is very attractive I’m a long term OpenSuSE user and elive seems very fast and beatiful.
But now the problem : with the aspire one D150 ( 10 inches netbook ) the audio does not works I had the same problem in OpenSuSE 11.1 and I heard in many other distributions The problem is due to the kernel version and to alsa version ( I would ask you, why if this release is out yesterday you choose to exit with a 2.6.26 kernel when kernel.oeg report last stable at 2.6.30 ?? ) for audio to works it is necessary 2.6.29 or newer and alsa 1.0.19 or newer. ( can I install update them without problem or have I to wait they are suited for elive itself ? ) wifi ( atheros ) and eth works good and the Iceweasel is very very light and fast. card reader too works perfectly I tried to connect a umts usb-stick but did not found any program who manages it ( maybe I have to work on it ) webcam works

Subj: elive_1.9.31_unstable ISO file - Grub Menu is wrong!
If you check the contents of the menu.lst file in the boot/grub folder and compare the kernel and initrd filenames in the menu to the actual filenames, you will see that they do not match (spelling issue with “_” and “-” characters), thus it is not possible to boot the system. Since I was using FAT32 partition (with grub4dos and the original menu.lst file from the iso) to which I extracted the contents of the ISO file, I was able to boot the installer after editing the grub menu.lst file. I have yet to get the installer working correctly, since the system boots but doesn’t continue with the installer...

Task Description
After bypassing bug 413 (http://bugs.elivecd.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=413&project=2&order=dateopened&sort=desc) and booting without an SD card present, keymap selection and resolution selection can take place. After X starts up, and the Enlightment desktop displays, the system will shut down after about 30 seconds to 1 minute, whether one uses the system or not.
I think it might be related to the loading of both acer-wmi and MadWifi, since they are known not to play nice together. Other distros such as ubuntu blacklist acer-wmi for the Acer Aspire One models. Using geubuntu (a E17 based ubuntu distro) no such shutdown happens.
Further debugging is not possible, since any logfiles are gone when the system shuts down.

Details and steps
There’s a strange way to manage multiple interfaces with net-connector, looks like that ticket about “mess with multiple interfaces” stills here, I think that I can reproduce it without problems, let me explain my steps so that you can try yourself:
First of all, daemon stopped, all configurations cleaned up, the wired cable is plugged, and the computer rebooted (aparently the wireless will keep the used ip, we want a clean conf in the interfaces, so reboot)
The system boots, the daemon is started automatically, and i have connection to internet automatically via my wired cable, ok, this is good.
Now I want to move this laptop to the bed so i unplug the wired cable and open net-connector interface, trying to configure my wireless: I select my ESSID, put the password, and keep it with dhcp for now, clicked “connect” and (after to wait a bit IMHO) i reach the connection with my wifi
BUG: Actually i can connect to internet but I least my first pings to google are VERY slow, i think that this is what one of the tickets in the BTS has tried to say, who has need to force the other interfaces down. Also, if im not wrong, there’s two route’s set:

Note: I think that when the “connect” button is clicked, NC should disconnect the other interfaces (we want to use only one in order to have internet, right?), or maybe just the “route’s”
Next step: I disconnect the wifi, I plug the wired cable and i click to connect (wired) (note, if is already connected after to plug it, click to disconnect first and then click to connect), then i disconnect it (wired), ill go again to the wireless network (with the wired cable plugged), I select my ESSID and try to connect it: BUG not possible, i see the status progress bar that searches and searches without possible to connect (the ‘route’ command don’t shows any route)
Warning: In my second test i was not unable to reproduce it (only one time in 2 tests), but may the cause be that i have not reproduced the things step by step like is explained before (included the reboot)
Another test: now im not connected with anything; i unplug the wired cable (actually set to disconnected), then I go again to the wifi section and try to connect, no way... same problem. Another test: I open a terminal and run “ifconfig eth0 down” (eth0 = wired), and try again to connect with wifi, no way. Another test: trying with “ifconfig ath0 down ; ifconfig ath0 up”, same thing, can’t connects...
Ok now i close the interface of net-connector, wait 3 seconds and open it again, unfortunately i don’t see the ESSIDs listed so im obliged to click in the “scan” button, then i select my essid again and click to “connect”, and now finally it was able to connect not really a bug but very strange, let me explore a bit more...
Computer used: macbook (yes, with a bit delicated/buggy driver, so please try to reproduce this on other machine)

After the verifying speeds steps of the installer, if you have a NTFS partition, the /root files will be vanished (see how your gtk theme of the installer looks ugly now)
Solutions: update aufs version (kernel) or copy the root files back
Note: This DOESN’T affect to the installed system, it is just a bug for the live mode, installed system is perfectly clean and stable... if will be not the case, Elive won’t use this way :))

(Apologies for not being able to provide much in the way of technical info.)
1.9.22 ecomp version Eeepc901, ssd, first ssd partitioned in ext3/boot, reiserfs/root, linuxswap/.
What happens that I can see is the following. I choose hibernate, the system finds the swap- partition, writes to it, and shuts down. Upon reboot, tuxonice cannot find the hibernation state, and the system loses the swap. Seems likely this is normal, since the swap- partition is marked, and shouldn’t be overwritten - still, I am not able to figure out why tuxonice won’t attempt the restore. Attempted to set verbose mode, but no luck on the boot- section.. The init says swap:’huge md5- like checksum’, etc. Attempted to increase the swap- partition, also change it to a different drive, with the same result.
