If the prior version installed on the hard drive uses the LABEL= partition naming convention in /etc/fstab, both the / and /home partitions should be changed to UUID= or if one wants to risk it /dev/sdc or sda or whatever # blkid from the live boot calls it.

Since i am not too sure about the handling of multiple users on /home I am now going to clone a home partition to test the install.

I have yesterday finished installation of last beta version. Unfortunately I wasn’t front of my laptop when the installation process went to an end. I think that there’s probably on last step something like how to boot the system isn’t it? Now the system doesn’t boot and I can’t access bios... Have you some idea what to now? I’ m using Lenovo ThinkPad E530c.

I just have one problem that is i cannot use the korean keyboard. Even though i have set the input to the korean keyboard nothing happens.

I have tried to install ibus etc. but nothing seems to work. Please help me.

On a laptop Lenovo ideapad 100S, I cannot install Elive on disk because the main hard drive (SSD) is not detected. Once booted in live mode, the list of detected drives showed by the Elive installer is empty. I also started Gparted which did not see my hard drive, only the USB stick.

I’m opening this bug but I will not be able to follow the resolution since I will not have access to this laptop anymore. It is just in case you can find the solution without my further help and inputs.

I cannot boot into the system. I am having problems moving forth after entering my passcode. One thing that happens is that it goes into “cryptsetup:sda5_crypt set up successfully”. It then processes and will not further.

Another is that if I hit F6 on initial boot, it will go into the process menu. Messages I saw on the thread were:

“No arrays found in config file or automatically.

Failure:failed to assemble all arrays.

Volume group “elive_vg” not found

Unable to find LVM volume elive_vg/root_lv

Elive_boot: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY.

fsck died with exit status 4

File system check failed

root password for maintenance”

The build is on Linux 3.16.0-0.bpo.4-686-pae

With 3D OFF youtube even on full screen is OK, with HW compiz/openGL ON, it lags..

Asus eee 1056 - atom N455

I just installed Elive 3.0.3 yesterday. I’m using my WIFI connection without problem. I just updated with “apt-get update” and then tried to install “apt-get install gsmartcontrol”, but after key “s” as usual on any Debian based system, in console it shows “Err http://.... gsmartcontrol...i386.deb” ... “301 moved permanently”, so I can’t install the application. Is like it’s not on repositories.

Any idea to solve this?

PLEASE fix wired connection to auto using eth0. Yhis is critical issue for those on older computers. Both in newest beta and in stable. Every other distro does why not Elive??

It looks like Gdebi-gtk is unable to install .deb files since (at least) elive 3.8.1.
THese are the reports from the forum:
“gdebi gui does not work, exits without doing anything, invoking this installation with terminal goes off well without problems”

“It dies silently without giving any errors”

The lack of sudo rights was excluded by Thanatermesis since users should be able to handle packages without requiring any root privilege by default (though further testing do not support this theory), moreover it looks like an Thunar related Issue.
A video is attached, showing me trying to “reinstall package” and “remove package” from the gtk. In both cases, as stated above, gdebi dies silently. Downloading the package from the main repository gives no issues (looks like). The same happens when installing a fresh program.
After trying with gdebi gtk, i run gdebi within a terminal. Without sudo rights, it exists without error stating “you need administrator rights!”, while running it with sudo installs the package without issues.
Need to find the roots of this evil behaviour to allow average users to install packages without requiring terminal knowledge.

Trying to install Elive 3.8.9 beta and get message of no wifi drivers found.This is a HP Envy x360 convertible laptop.This is the output of my wireless interface.

Problems after download.
Once the download is done, it seems the ISO just holds 15 k of files, hence it is impossible to install anything.

Yesterday I made s mall donation, however, today, if I want to try to make a correct download again, it asks for a donation once more. Please, explain.

The fstab file is not good gererated by the system when is installed. The system detect extended partition and put it on the fstab. This procure a crash on fsdik on startup.

When I creat a new partition with gparted on my usb disc, the partition is automaticaly detected and the system proposes me to mounted but gparted has not finish the work and crashes.

Creating new partitions is not possible (for end user).

The text in menu of XFE is not right encoded (with the french menu). For exemple “Propriété” is “Propri€Â©t€Â©”.

If I created a file or rename it i have the same problem.

I am unable to switch my desktop background in e17 using either emblem via the elpanel or using the configuration panel. These files are .edj that are located ~/.e/e/backgrounds.

Under elive 0.5.1 (is this the same as 0.5 dev?) the icon for usb disks doesn’t disappear when I right click and unmount one under Thunar. I upgraded to the latest Thunar yet this still occurs. Is this an upstream bug?

entangle and e17genmenu missing from default e17 menus. e noobs could well be put off by this, thinking they can’t edit the menus and the shortcut bar, at least not graphically. You have to know about entangle to use it to add itself to the e17 menus.

A shortcut to e17genmenu would be nice too.

The driver for bcm43xx(broadcom 4318) is buggy(unusable), the best way is using ndiswrapper and windows*sic* drivers, contact me if you need something!

I have a couple old computers with Ati Rage 128 Pro 32MB cards. In both Revolution releases the detection of the video card dos not work properly and asks to choose fglrx, radeon or VESA drivers for X11, the first two failing, obviously, and the third one being terribbly slow.
The driver to use is r128, and changing that in /etc/X11/xorg.conf and restarting the X system everything works perfectly.

2.6.7.15 kernel IBM T no hibernate (due too old kernel/no partition prepared after install (no notice)).Suspend works strange.Sometimes wakes up/sometimes hangs within suspending/waking.Hibernate tries to work but only beeps after insertin IBM_ACPI - should be inserted automaticaly when install recognized IBM ntb.LID switch only power off the lamp,not display.Power button doesn’t work-not recognized by acpi.No rules to run dimmer of LCD (battery/AC).. Some plugin/module would be fine..

I am noticing a complete slow down in computer operations when opening the interface properties menu for wifi configuration.
Using the clock applet as a gauge, the seconds get updated every 2 to 4 seconds (this time interval varies.) Mouse and text operations are only accessible in these intervals, as well.

Also, for example, once finished filling the properties and clicking OK, the little activation window that comes up with the little bar scanning back and forth (while the wifi signal is being captured) takes 15 seconds to go from one side to the other!!!
This slowdown has been noticed on all versions .5.1 through the rel2!

I have not been successful at wifi connection in ANY of versions .5.1 through rel2!

After the notification of the first activication notice, most of the time the computer returns to normal operation speed...but not always. Re-boot is then necessary to return to normal speed.

Also when updating to rel2, during the install it said I needed the bcm-43xx driver...and I have the ralink. I used synaptic to remove the bcm-43xx driver thinking there may be a conflict, but that did not help.

Two sound card configuration:
1.
I have in desktop PC two soundcards.After configuring them in elpanel,choosing one of them,I’m able to use sound through the choosen one. BUT after few restarts, the config autoswitch to the second one which means audio is OK,but play from the second sound card EVEN I have chosen other one.The audio mixer autoswitch to the proper features which support the sound card now playing.

2.
If I want to use one sound car for sounds and the other for forexample skype,there is something missing.. In XMMS I’m able to choose ONLY one soundcard,even I have two.I can choose the card which is set from elpanel..
