Like it says in the review article http://news.softpedia.com/news/Elive-Compiz-104523.shtml , when you mouse-in around a window in the pager or the minimized applications, there’s not a kind of popup information about “what” is that window, could be nice to add this feature ?

Could be nice to boot from USB devices for computers that can’t boot from USB (bios) (and that doesn’t has a CDROM), for that, could be needed to boot a grub, this grub should load the kernel and the initrd (the kernel include the drivers needed for the USB’s), and then the initrd (eli) will list all the devices so the user select his USB to boot from

This is very nice to have for computers that can’t boot USB’s (or doesn’t has cdrom), and a easy way to upgrade to newest elive versions

Update: This feature actually exists (tested and working), just add the parameters boot=eli changedevice to your grub and you are able to boot from the USB :) (only a Elive system, so it scans for it)

For some old computers (like my new old dell latitude c400), the default synaptics configuration not works

It is needed to remove the default configuration of synaptics, use gsynaptics from user instead

I installed this version of Elive Elive_1.9.23_unstable and enabled compiz. Whenever i run AMSN i get a Crash in Compiz and then i click on recover and it work again.

I installed the Elive_1.9.23_unstable and after installing nvidia-settings and started it in the Superuser mode. I had a wierd thing. It changed the default Keyboard from German to English and could not restore it again to German.

Under this version of Elive Elive_1.9.23_unstable

whenever i try to activate the Audio mixer Gadget it just dissapear on the next start, but what i realized that it does not dissapear completly, it still there but i have to change the resolution of my Monitor to see it on its place. I have 1024 x 1280

but when i move to 1024x 768 i found this Gadget there. (Wierd)

We need a commoun Clinet for ICQ, Yahoo and MSN and this work very good under Pidgin

Please go back to Pidgin and AMSN can be as an option

When I insert an Audio CD there is no more message concerning that in the log. Alsothe CD doesn’t appear somewhere like e.g. in Thunar or the filesystem under /mnt or /media. Shouldn’t it?

The default download directories of aMule are not userfriendly at all

Some device icons (like USBs) of the elive icons theme, needs to have a transparent background

For example, when umounting a USB device from thunar, there’s a popup from the corner of the screen with a message and a icon with a non-transparent background

Games like Wolfenstein not works directly by default, made a compatibility for this, start by add a script to load all the snd-*-oss modules at the init of the system, then see if directly works or needs to run with “aoss” (not so nice way (userfriendly))

when is copying a video, it does a kind of ugly try to made a preview a lot of times, this slows down the computer too, for that, use a kind of tracer (name of file > logs, if name of actual file is equal to logs, wait 30 seconds before to try to do the preview)

Hello - I have just earlier tried to download Elive stable and was forced to make a donation just to do that. The download failed because my computer crashed and since I was using a DSL-Linux live cd the link to the ftp site has not been saved. I live on a very tight budget and can not afford to waste my hard earned money for nothing. I need access to the download without having to make another donation or at least return the money back to my account so that I can give it another try without making a unneccesary loss.

Looks like it is not really possible to have a full utf-8 working system on console mode, this mades a lot of translated messages (like in spanish(á, é, í...), or russian) bad readable, broken, crappy...

Maybe is a fixable bug since looks like to work in the installed system

If is not fixable, remove liveboot translations

I added Gadgets-Icons to my Desktop. Then I found that they have no function and, even worse, I cant remove them anymore!

I added them like this:
Left-clicked the Desktop →Settings →Gadgets → select “Settings” or “Temperature” →click apply.

But I cannot find a way to remove them!
AND they cannot be moved and also do not have any use.

If unetbootin is selected, there’s no a language set, if is the case, popup a dialog asking for a language

What does if you dont press anything in the boot menu ? (maybe keyboard not working?), is the variable set to english or to nothing ? (Note: there’s a part in the boot that sets english if there’s not anything set)

Hibernate/suspend features are not stable in some computers, maybe the hibernate* tool in elive should ask/warning about this before to do it

Hi! I really like working with Eltrans. It’s a really nice tool!
It would be nice to have the Possibility of translating everything Elive-related with Eltrans. For example all e17-Modules. And later maybe even other Applications?
