Hi there, I have installed eLive Gem+ compiz on a Lenovo Thinkpad T60 with an ATI Radeon Mobility graphics adapter. Both the included mplayer and vlc from the repositories flicker when watching movies. This seems independent from the movie format and the payer.

I have three operating systems on my machine. The 1st one is Windows Vista, the 2nd one is Windows XP and the 3rd one is eLive. eLive has been installed as the last one and brought GRUB with it. It has created four GRUB entries (1: eLive GEM+, 2: Windows Vista, Windows XP, Memory RAM Diagnostic). Every entry works fine, only when I select Vista then XP comes up and when I select XP then Vista comes up. So either the descriptions or the boot devices are swapped. I am not clear about the devices. Vista has one disk, eLive and XP share the other disk. This is my menu.lst:

VLC always shuts off when trying to open a videofile. It doesnt even send a message. It just says “VLC was closed without any message”

My Notebook’s wifi does not work with Elive. It’s not even recognizing it’s wifi-device.
As far as I know it’s using an SIS163u wifi-device.

Please include chilian ISP ENTEL in the list of 3G phone options.

Hello dear,
I can’t remove a application item context menu. The setup only add.

export by default the DISPLAY and XAUTHORITY variables if the user has ssh to the machine

Whenever i want to install Elive, i have to install a certain Module in order to be able to install Elive on my Hard disk. Is there any Solution for this Problem????

And if i do not have any Internet connection because of the Bug in ADSL and PPPOE Configuration, then there is no any Chance to install Elive on my HDD.

ADSL and PPPOE Configuration does not work. it crashed all the time.

We need a commoun Clinet for ICQ, Yahoo and MSN and this work very good under Pidgin

Please go back to Pidgin and AMSN can be as an option

Elive_1.9.23_unstable

Whenever i want to move from normal mode to Full screen mode in Youtube the PC start to work slow and the Clip of Youtube start to work slow ( Just the Video ) but the Audio keeps running well.

Please fix this Problem

I have to say this happened under Compiz!

Under this version of Elive Elive_1.9.23_unstable

whenever i try to activate the Audio mixer Gadget it just dissapear on the next start, but what i realized that it does not dissapear completly, it still there but i have to change the resolution of my Monitor to see it on its place. I have 1024 x 1280

but when i move to 1024x 768 i found this Gadget there. (Wierd)

I installed the Elive_1.9.23_unstable and after installing nvidia-settings and started it in the Superuser mode. I had a wierd thing. It changed the default Keyboard from German to English and could not restore it again to German.

Hi all!

I installed this version of Elive Elive_1.9.23_unstable and enabled compiz. Whenever i run AMSN i get a Crash in Compiz and then i click on recover and it work again.

For some old computers (like my new old dell latitude c400), the default synaptics configuration not works

It is needed to remove the default configuration of synaptics, use gsynaptics from user instead

Could be nice to boot from USB devices for computers that can’t boot from USB (bios) (and that doesn’t has a CDROM), for that, could be needed to boot a grub, this grub should load the kernel and the initrd (the kernel include the drivers needed for the USB’s), and then the initrd (eli) will list all the devices so the user select his USB to boot from

This is very nice to have for computers that can’t boot USB’s (or doesn’t has cdrom), and a easy way to upgrade to newest elive versions

Update: This feature actually exists (tested and working), just add the parameters boot=eli changedevice to your grub and you are able to boot from the USB :) (only a Elive system, so it scans for it)

Like it says in the review article http://news.softpedia.com/news/Elive-Compiz-104523.shtml , when you mouse-in around a window in the pager or the minimized applications, there’s not a kind of popup information about “what” is that window, could be nice to add this feature ?

Could be nice if we have an e17 module to limit the windows to be in the screen limits, instead to pass over it. This is a useful feature for non-experienced users.

Note: this report has somewhere (i dont remember where) a list of features needed, like which options to have on it (like: limit the windows to be in-screen, limit the windows to be not entirely out of the screen, allow the window to be partially out, etc etc), is needed to check this list first (in hackers or in dev ? i dont remember right now)

I just found that Eltrans discarded and replaced my nearly finished “eltrans”(over 90%) Translations. Now it’s at about 30%! And I got no idea where all the work has gone to! Additionally both, the Fuzzy and “ready” Translations are of a really bad quality.

There’s a kind of mess between these 2 interfaces (wifi and wired), i removed all the netconnector configurations and then started the daemon and configured only for my wired connection, that is a static ip with autoconnect=yes, after to reboot i have:

A different ip (a dhcp one) for my wired interface, if I run netconnector (gui), in the Wired part i have my static ip set/configured, and in the Status values says that i have a different one (this dhcp obtained one), if i run ifconfig i have the static ip set to the WIFI interface instead of the wired one. Again in the GUI, in the Wifi part, i have the “autoconnect” box set in ON (of course i have not set it, maybe the problem is from here?), and the status for the wifi says that I have the static ip.

ETK Preferences does not change to show different windows for each of the tabs.

EG: When I click on Theme it should show different themes to choose from, and when I click on User Preferences I should see the appropriate window information. Default tab “theme” shows all the time.
